I know it's kind of an impossible choice, but if I was pressed for my favourite film ever, it would have to be 是枝裕和 Koreeda Hirokazu's 海街diary (Our Little Sister).
I rarely rewatch films, but I watch this about once a year, and I don't think there's another film quite as beautiful and life-affirming as this.

When their father - absent for 15 years - dies, 3 sisters travel to his funeral and meet their half-sister. Bonding with the orphaned Suzu, they invite her to live with them.
Even though I rarely re-watch films, I make some (very few) exceptions.
I had a lot of time flying back from Tokyo today, and badly missed Japan even before I even properly left it, so decided to re-watch 是枝裕和 (Koreeda Hirokazu)'s 「海町diary」 ("Our Little Sister" in English).
It only made me miss Japan even more (so it didn't really work in that sense 😅), but it's just the most wonderful, sad, but heartwarming film. I love most of Koreeda's films, but I'm quite sure this is my favourite, and it's really just one of my favourite films overall.
