Classic Dutch integration: cycled out to industrial estate in the middle of nowhere in the pouring rain to visit a fireworks shop to collect apparently the best oliebollen and apple beignets in the area. Was sceptical but just had the first beignet and it was bloody lovely tbf #OudEnNieuw2022

Some of the traditional #Dutch deep-fried #NewYearsEve #snacks I made here in #Norway: #oliebollen and #appelbeignets (sort of like #applefritters?). The latter are sometimes also called #appelflappen, though imho those are apple-filled puff-pastry triangles instead.
