I think I finally found my personality description. Until now tests normally made me introvert, but this is much better describing me.
> An otrovert is someone who often feels like an outsider in groups, even when they are friendly and socially capable. They do not really care about group belonging or rituals, stay emotionally independent, and prefer original thinking. Instead of many shallow connections, they look for a small number of deep relationships.
I read a post from someone on LinkedIn yesterday, who had read "The Gift of Not Belonging" and boiled down the gist of being an #otrovert into a social media post.
And what bugged me was the number of people who jumped on it to say "that's totally me!".
I get that a lot of people want to find a way to fit into the world, and to find their 'tribe', but if you think that's a bunch of otroverts, you're barking up the wrong tree!
This book is about people like me—probably the first time a psychologist has identified my 'type' of person. It should be a fascinating read for anyone.

I read an interview w/ the psychiatrist Rami Kaminski about his theory of Otherness and a third type beside Extroverts and Introverts: the Otroverts. → https://taz.de/Psychiater-entdeckt-dritten-Persoenlichkeits-Typ-neben-introvertiert-und-extrovertiert/!6121550/
And #AuDHD comes to my mind.
The listed traits of Otroverts sound very familiar → https://www.othernessinstitute.com/traits-of-otherness/
I did their test and scored w/ 206 of 280 as an #Otrovert .
Who knew, I thought I'm just a regular AuDHD person.
You have 268/280 points.
You are an #Otrovert.

Explains a lot to me and I'm happy to have more "desease" on my personal "how crazy am I"-list.

I have just finished reading The Gift of Non-Belonging, and I am definitely an #otrovert
And while the book does a good job of explaining what that is, and what it means to be an otrovert - indeed, how wonderful it is that we exist and what more communal people can learn from us - I didn’t find it massively helpful on the topic of how to thrive as an otrovert in a world built by and for communal people.
