Confindustria and Meloni are unloading the blame for the economic disaster onto Europe: it’s the failure of the business leaders.

In these four years, the government has done absolutely nothing to stimulate the Italian economy and society. The result is evident: we have become the worst economy in Europe, and the situation of social relations has deteriorated significantly. Poverty has increased, welfare has declined, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Wages have stagnated. During the same years, the business world, represented by Confindustria, has given a very poor impression of itself. It has shown no entrepreneurial skills, had no vision, and failed to propose development pathways. It was the obvious image of the decline of the Italian bourgeoisie. Let’s be clear: two failures.

Yesterday, the representatives of these two failures, the government and Confindustria, met at the traditional annual industrial assembly, at Eur, in the visionary cloud of Fuksas, and comforted and absolved each other. In that room, one could feel the air of the failure of Italian leadership. And we must say that neither Confindustria President Orsini nor Premier Meloni had the audacity to deny this failure. However, they sought an excuse and found it in the wrong policies decided in these years by Europe. In particular, they criticized environmental policies, aimed at saving the planet in the next thirty, or forty, or one hundred years, but which do not produce immediate benefits for businesses. Confindustria and the government are convinced that the problems of humanity, and of Italy, are not “what future” but are all concentrated in the immediate present. And therefore, they found in the alleged errors of Europe the real reason for the Italian crisis. None of them, however, asked themselves why all other European countries – all – had a growth rate higher than that of Italy, and why a country like Spain, perhaps the most similar to Italy, had a triple growth compared to ours.

Orsini, truthfully, listed some weaknesses of the system. For example, low wages. However, he also said that it is not the business world that can afford to improve wages, because this would mean reducing profits and that this is not compatible with its economic strategy. Even though the data shows that wages have fallen in these years but profits and especially dividends have increased enormously.

Then Orsini asked Giorgia Meloni to make available 20 billion, to be used in part to improve the functioning of schools and healthcare, and in part to support businesses. What is the objective? Orsini said that Italy will only take off if medium-sized industries can become large industries, and small industries can become medium industries. In what way? Orsini said that to do this, the government must invest, and above all, must implement an energy policy that leaves the market and returns entirely to state choices. In practice, Confindustria proposes that the market be reduced, remain available to capital but be eliminated at the time of decisions that can favor capital. It’s the old idea: privatize profits and nationalize losses. Meloni did not respond, she smiled, she gave Orsini reason. She did not respond, evidently, about the 20 billion that Confindustria was asking for. After all, what answer could she give? I would gladly give them to you, but I simply don’t have them.

Nuclear: In Caorso and Trino, municipalities are beating the State and reclaiming the funds owed for environmental compensation.

While landing in the Chamber of Deputies, the delegation bill on nuclear energy follows its passage to the Joint Environment and Production Activities Committees, eight municipalities hosting nuclear plants and the nuclear fuel cycle are ready to collect what is due to them for environmental compensation. This was established by the Court of Cassation, which ended a dispute that lasted fifteen years and began in 2011. At the center was a 70% cut in nuclear compensation quotas, implemented from 2004 to 2011 based on the provisions of the 2005 financial law by the then-Berlusconi government. The municipalities of Minturno (Latina), Piacenza and Caorso, Sessa Aurunca (Caserta), Ispra (Varese), Saluggia and Trino Vercellese, represented by lawyer Xavier Santiapichi of the Foro di Roma, filed a lawsuit. And they won in all three levels of court: these administrations will receive fully the environmental compensation provided for by national regulations, including the amounts deducted in previous years. How much does it amount to? Just for the Municipality of Saluggia, it is about 25 million euros.

A dispute lasting five years
The municipalities had already won on the first and second levels, respectively at the Rome Tribunal in 2016 and before the Court of Appeal in 2020. The money had already been paid after the second-instance judgment, but it was blocked due to a lawsuit filed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Cipe, Interministerial Committee for Economic Programming. The lawsuit was just rejected by the judgment of the first civil section of the Court of Cassation, according to which the resources could not be reduced by 70 percent. “We are satisfied with an important ruling: the affair finally recognized the reasons of the territories that have lived with the presence of activities linked to the nuclear for decades” commented the mayor of Saluggia, Libero Farinelli, after the publication of the judgment.

How much will the interested entities receive
The judgment does not concern only the municipalities, but all entities that were entitled to compensation and that, after the cut by the Berlusconi government, filed a lawsuit. The funds are distributed annually in proportion to the surface and the resident population. 50 percent goes to the municipalities that host the plant, 25 percent to the relevant Province and another 25 percent to the municipalities bordering the one in which the plant is located. And while for the Municipality of Saluggia, which hosts the Eurex plant and the Avogadro Deposit, it is about 25 million euros, for that of Caorso, in Piacenza province, which hosts the ‘Arturo’ plant, the quota to collect is about 26 million 340 thousand euros. For Trino Vercellese, headquarters of the Enrico Fermi plant, the total amount recognized is approximately 17 million euros. “This decision – declares Mayor Daniele Pane – represents not only a legal victory, but also the recognition of the rights of our territory and our communities.” The Province of Latina, having sued the Cipe, can now ask the State for the account. Another 17 million euros. Conversely, the Municipality of Latina, which did not file an appeal, cannot do so.

Si intensificano i bombardamenti israeliani sul Libano, dove il cessate il fuoco, mai realmente rispettato, sembra sul punto di saltare definitivamente. “Siamo in guerra con Hezbollah. Oltre 600 terroristi sono stati eliminati. Non abbasseremo la guardia. Li colpiremo” ha detto ieri in un video il premier Benjamin Netanyahu, che ha annunciato quindi una nuova offensiva. Dichiarazioni che hanno spinto parte della popolazione di Beirut a scappare: sui social sono state pubblicate immagini di strade intasate da code di auto delle famiglie in fuga.
Nei giorni scorsi Hezbollah aveva preso di mira con un lancio di droni le località settentrionali di Israele, che hanno poi puntato il dito su Netanyahu accusato di non fare abbastanza per garantire la sicurezza. Il premier è messo alle strette anche dai ministri Ben-Gvir e Smootrich che reclamano il pugno duro contro Beirut e dai numeri degli abitanti del nord in fuga (tutti potenziali elettori persi). “Stanno usando i droni, abbiamo una squadra speciale che si occupa di questo e risolveremo anche questo problema” ha detto ancora Netanyahu. “Ciò che ci impone è di intensificare gli attacchi e colpirli frontalmente”. Un ampliamento delle operazioni quindi nel mezzo dei negoziati con l’Iran, e che secondo i media americani ha già avuto il via libera dell’amministrazione Trump.
L’Idf ha già iniziato a a mobilitare i riservisti al confine settentrionale. Canale 11 riporta la testimonianza di diversi soldati congedati nei giorni scorsi dal confine nord che oggi hanno ricevuto nuove lettere di richiamo con la richiesta di presentarsi immediatamente per un nuovo round di servizio di riserva. Il portavoce ha inoltre diffuso in lingua araba un nuovo ordine di evacuazione urgente per i residenti del Libano, in particolare a quelli della regione di Nabatieh nel sud del Paese.
In queste ore le città di Arnoun, Yahmar al-Shaqif, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Kfar Sir e Mayfadoun, nel Libano meridionale, hanno subito pesanti bombardamenti di artiglieria da parte delle forze israeliane, che hanno raggiunto anche le vicinanze del castello di Beaufort nel distretto di Nabatieh. Ieri erano state segnalate ondate di attacchi israeliani nei distretti di Tiro e Nabatieh e a Mashgara, nella zona occidentale della valle della Bekaa. In quest’ultima città, i soccorritori libanesi hanno recuperato 12 corpi. Secondo le autorità sanitarie, diverse persone sono rimaste ferite.
Hezbollah ha riferito di essere impegnato in scontri a fuoco ravvicinati con soldati di Israele che stavano “avanzando verso Zaoutar el-Sharqiyé”, al di fuori della zona cuscinetto stabilita di fatto da Israele. In una dichiarazione, il partito-milizia sciita ha affermato di aver utilizzato missili, proiettili di artiglieria e droni kamikaze contro questa “forza composita” e di averla “ingaggiata direttamente in combattimento”. Ha specificato che questi scontri sono avvenuti dopo che il villaggio è stato bombardato da “intensi raid aerei e fuoco di artiglieria” da parte degli israeliani. Durante questi scontri, “ancora in corso”, un carro armato Merkava è stato “distrutto da un drone d’attacco Ababil”.

Il Fatto Quotidiano: Comunali, a Grazzanise rieletto il sindaco dei “Cento Passi” con quasi il 100% dei voti

Se fino a ieri Grazzanise (Caserta) era famosa come piccola città sede di aeroporto, da oggi può sfoderare un altro motivo di celebrità: quello di avere un sindaco eletto all’unanimità, o quasi. Enrico Petrella, l’uscente, nonché consigliere provinciale, è stato riconfermato alla guida del Municipio con il 98%. Ha rastrellato 3.896 voti, contro gli appena 91 dell’avversario Raffaele Di Resta. Merito suo e della lista “Cento Passi“, evidente richiamo al mondo dell’associazionismo da cui Petrella proviene e nel quale vanta una militanza ventennale. E col quale continua a collaborare, ottenendone il coinvolgimento in alcuni progetti.
Petrella porta all’incasso sei anni di buona amministrazione. Durante i quali ha costruito entusiasmo, consenso, gioco di squadra e quella “pace sociale” che aveva invocato appena eletto per la prima volta, tendendo subito una mano ai rivali elettorali.
Nel corso del primo mandato ha realizzato uno dei parchi giochi più grandi del comprensorio, Villa ‘Angelo Parente’, ha avviato i lavori, quasi ultimati, per il ponte pedonale sul fiume Volturno, che collegherà il centro storico alla frazione Brezza, ha portato la raccolta differenziata ad oltre l’80% ed ha riordinato la riscossione tributi per combattere l’evasione.
Nei mesi scorsi Petrella aveva provato a convincere i potenziali competitor a presentarsi con lui in un’unica lista alle elezioni, secondo il principio – discutibile – che lasciare quattro consiglieri alla minoranza significava avere quattro persone che non lavorano per il paese.
