UCF students and faculty rally to deliver letters, demands for a sanctuary campus to administration

Orlando, FL – On October 22, over 70 students and members of faculty gathered at Memory Mall at the University of Central Florida to demand no ICE on the UCF campus and for the university to become a sanctuary campus.

The rally and march were organized by UCF Students for a Democratic Society, United Faculty of Florida, Young Democratic-Socialists of America, and Students for Education in Prison.

UCF students rally against ICE on campus

Orlando, FL – On Thursday, September 4, around 60 students at the University of Central Florida rallied and marched to demand the reversal of their university’s 287(g) agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as the establishment of a sanctuary campus.

The rally was led by UCF Students For A Democratic Society (SDS), who were joined by the UCF Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), and UCF Students For Education in Prison (SFEP), and others.

The topics covered included a brief introduction of FRSO, its analysis of class in the United States, the organization’s strategy for revolution, and how it organizes to build the people’s struggles to fight for revolutionary change.

Orlando rallies against county's backtrack on ICE agreement

Orlando, FL – On August 2, around 30 community members held an emergency rally at the Orange County Commission chambers to demand the county vote against ratifying an updated agreement to its contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. The updated agreement represents another attack on immigrants in the county.

The mobilization was called for by Orlando Against Police Crimes, after Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings caved in to threats from Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier.
