I don't know if this is a hot take but open worlds in games should ALWAYS scale with you. Otherwise it's not truly open and it puts pressure on you to either move on to keep the game difficult and fun, or you get punished for intuitively not wanting to stick to an area you don't enjoy. If my path is pre determined by levels it is not a true open world.
I am now level 120 in Elden Ring and I reached the Atlus Plateau. I one shot most things. I was curious as to what level is recommended so I looked it up. Appearently it's roughly level 60-70. That was my leven way back before even caelid.
I now feel way too overpowered for this area. Which makes me not want to explore much otherwise I will stay this overpowered.
I am now considering going to the north of caelid instead to have a challenge since I got my ass kicked there when I was level 80. But then the Atlus Plateau will be even more boring...
