🚨 Tumbleweed’s main advantage is NOT raw performance

🚩 This is the important distinction.

🚀 The strongest objectively verifiable advantage of Tumbleweed is:

✅ Btrfs + Snapper + rollback + openQA-tested rolling updates

—not benchmark leadership.

That is a workflow/reliability advantage, not a pure FPS/render benchmark advantage.

Yes, I know.
We have divergent level of tests.
1. daily: if the integration itself (if the build works w/o errors and warnings)
2. daily: if the SW is stable running with some automatic UI interactions
3. weekly: some more complex tests including some simple handling.
4. monthly (aligned with sprint end): full UI tests

Have a look as well on the automatic testing from #openSUSEtumbleweed (#openSUSEfactory) and starting of it at #kdePlasma.

FINALLY! I managed to install #opensusetumbleweed! No need to change the EFI partition, you can select grub EFI in the installation process. And I could easily install Nvidia 580 drivers! Let's try THINGS. Like Unity3d, Defold, Steam, Heroic... #linux

I managed to get my laptop's lights to stop changing color, since there's an ASUS Control Panel project for OpenSUSE and some other distros.

I found a weird quirk when switching DEs on openSUSE Tumbleweed: if I logout and try to login to another DE after being logged into another one. It does not allow me to log into the other one. I need to reboot every time in order to login to a different DE. This behavior only manifested after the GNOME 50 Update dropped...

This is a mild inconvenience, as my boot times are so fast, I often don't notice when I get back into a log-in screen.

There is probably a solution for this issue (as this is a new behavior).

I might have to switch away from GNOME, likely back up all my stuff and install openSUSE Tumbleweed with a different DE.

Today I learned how to bootstrap a cross-compilation environment on #opensuse #tumbleweed #opensusetumbleweed

It's a bit messy at first, and apparently not really designed that way, but it works. Now I want to write a blog post.
