🔧 Build environment update:
OSRM's Linux baseline is now Debian 13 (Trixie) and Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Minimum compiler support moves to Clang 18 and GCC 14. Windows builds are on Visual Studio 2025.
Later this year we also plan to drop macOS Intel support.
We continuously upgrade to modern environments, keeping the codebase clean and dependencies current.
If you're building from source, now's a good time to check your toolchain.

Themable, stretchable sdf highway shield icon (the number signs), optional multiline.
Unfortunately #MapLibreGL styles does not appear to support using "case" statements in "icon-color" (and "icon-halo-color") layers, forcing me to use multiple rules (for motorway, primary, other in this case).
The #OpenMapTiles OMT style (vectorstile used in https://osm.org) fails the multiline part, I used a poor mans replace:
`"text-field": ["join", ["split", ["to-string", ["get", "ref"]], ";"], "\n"],` to achieve that (the "ref" property in the vector tile is semicolon separated).

If you have an extra minute, you can even record the number of spaces, kind of parking (hoops, wheel benders etc) and other relevant metadata. It’s quite addictive!
Next time you’re at a supermarket/pub/school/other place you visit often, take a moment to have a look around and see if there’s a bike rack - then check if it’s shown on OpenStreetmap.
If it’s not on there, clicking “edit” and adding it to the map benefits all cyclists, and a minute of minor tapping might benefit generations of cyclists looking for somewhere to park!
