FINALLY got it to work & I feel exactly like that Douglas Adams quote 😂 turned out it was an issue of choosing the right Pi OS to go with the current version of OMV, which apparently wasn't exactly intuitive to me...

Yes, I wrote it down this time. Hope it helps me next time 😁

Also hope I won't have any problems setting up the storage disks 🤞

Currently at attempt no. five or six of "going all the way back to scratch & starting over"... 🙄

I also seem to remember from last time this gave me trouble that it's just about trying over & over & suddenly, for no discernable reason, it might work.

To clarify, the "backup thingie" thingie is that the OpenMediaVault NAS setup I use as a sort-of home cloud, including for some of my backing up, which I've had for years with very few issues, seems to also have chosen this exact time to get weird.

Which is of course very lovely. I don't feel cursed by technology at all.

OpenMediaVault als NAS. Ein Thema, in dem ich noch ziemlich unerfahren bin, wird also spannend.

Erstes Projekt: Die NaviDrome-Sammlung dorthin verpflanzen, statt als ext HD am Raspi. Bisher erfolglos :D

Couldn't get back to sleep this morning after waking up in pain, so I took some time to ease the mental pain of keeping track of what's running where in my #homelab with a new #wiki page. Have a look if you're interested in what I'm running across my main #NAS and two Raspberry Pis.

Guten Morgen,

ich habs genau richtig getroffen, es ist Regenwetter und ich habe mir Homeoffice in den Kalender eingetragen .-).
Gestern habe ich unabsichtlich mit einem Karton meine Endspeicher-NAS angeschaltet, die dann die ganz Nacht tatenlos lief :-(
Jetzt sichere ich die Dailyuse-NAS auf den Endspeicher #openmediavault auf einem AMD Sempron :-) .

Die #SZ ist nun auch auf Mastodon, sehr löblich, herzlich willkommen!
