@lioman Ich kann #OpenMediaVault (#OMV) empfehlen. Basiert auf #Debian #Linux und ist seit vielen Jahren bei mir solide im Einsatz. Geht auch als VM auf #proxmox ...
Bin kein Profi und empfinde die Einrichtung und Betrieb als gut machbar. Gibt auch viele Tutorials auf YouTube und im Internet.

Couldn't get back to sleep this morning after waking up in pain, so I took some time to ease the mental pain of keeping track of what's running where in my #homelab with a new #wiki page. Have a look if you're interested in what I'm running across my main #NAS and two Raspberry Pis.

Hopefully this will serve as a reminder of what config files I really need to put in a central location.

Welp, we may very well lose seriously the best #FOSS #NAS option we had, #TrueNAS at some point - maybe even soon. @geerlingguy rightly mentioned that this smells a whole lot like the whole #RedHat/#CentOS debacle not that long ago. This sucks, but meh, I’m liking #OpenMediaVault more and more these days - prolly not as sophisticated, but certainly does the job and is super simple to setup (#RaspberryPi as first class citizen too).

Guten Morgen,

ich habs genau richtig getroffen, es ist Regenwetter und ich habe mir Homeoffice in den Kalender eingetragen .-).
Gestern habe ich unabsichtlich mit einem Karton meine Endspeicher-NAS angeschaltet, die dann die ganz Nacht tatenlos lief :-(
Jetzt sichere ich die Dailyuse-NAS auf den Endspeicher #openmediavault auf einem AMD Sempron :-) .

Die #SZ ist nun auch auf Mastodon, sehr löblich, herzlich willkommen!

In other news Chi's Open Media Vault 8 #nas is now fully populated with drives and running.
#nextcloud , #paperlessngx , #jellyfin and #technitium containers are configured, up and running.
#NetBird VM configured & connected #rsync to my NAS is running

Gods I wish I had a faster connection.

250 MBit/s Down, 100 Mbit/s Up would have been amazing... 20 years ago.

Chi has 10 Gbit/s symetric and doesn't even pay twice what I pay.

I hate being the bottleneck.

FriendlyELEC NanoPi NEO3 Plus is an ultra-compact headless SBC powered by a Rockchip RK3528A SoC paired with 1GB RAM, whose main interfaces are a Gigabit Ethernet jack, a USB 3.2 port, and a 26-pin GPIO header. I can still remember using its predecessor, the NanoPi NEO3, based on a Rockchip RK3328, which I reviewed with Armbian in 2020. The new model is similar, with a quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC but clocked at 2.0 GHz instead of 1.5 GHz, and offered with a black metal case instead of a white plastic case. The OS can still be booted from a microSD card, but the NanoPi NEO3 Plus also offers a socket for an optional eMMC flash module, and adds an RTC battery connector, a speaker connector, and a MASK button for firmware updates. TrueNAS devices can be bought from iXsystems, but that means buying a devices from an U.S. vendor, which is not optimal from digital sovereignty perspective.

Broadberry Data Systems, an UK-based company with multiple offices around the world offers Rockstor-based storage servers in the enterprise price range.

OpenMediaVault-based devices don't seem to be available at all.

OpenMediaVault is a media server-oriented Linux distribution that can also serve as a NAS system. Its development is community-driven, but there is only one core developer from Germany. OpenMediaVault seems like a reasonable option for a home media server, but feels a bit outdated and is probably not the best option for a NAS server.
