"Beer, Data & Robots" ⚛️ è stata davvero una serata esplosiva.. grazie a tutti !! 💥 🙏🏻

Grazie a Simona Mazzarino e a Andrea Marchese per averci illustrato fino a che punto una IA può mal interpretare i dati e come poterli esplorare con un visore di realtà aumentata 📊

Switching to another #GameEngine can be like learning another language. Apart from things like "material" and "camera", most of the terminology doesn't transfer. Someone compiled a phrasebook mapping #Unity3D terms to those of #Godot, #Unreal, #CryEngine, #Open3D, #GameMakerStudio, and #BabylonJS.

A table with some of the most common Unity terms, and their corresponding Unreal, Godot, Cryengine, O3DE, GameMaker, and Babylon.js terms

Might be helpful for those looking for alternatives. I'm personally a Unity dev so this is a WIP. Hoping to make it easier for myself and others...

After a couple weeks of hitting dead ends with Open3D's bugs in boolean geometry operations, I've switched to scripting Blender for my boolean geometry operations.

I've got spheres, cylinders, and cubes with reliable intersections, unions, and differences, which was not possible with Open3D.

I'm excited to start a larger design to see how Blender holds up.

I'm super excited to start playing with three new functions that have recently been added to the Open3D library:
- TriangleMesh::BooleanIntersect
- TriangleMesh::BooleanUnion
- TriangleMesh::BooleanSubtract

The version packaged with Ubuntu does not include these functions yet, so last weekend I just successfully compiled from source and linked with my C++ project.

I'm working on some ideas for procedural generation of 3D printing models and these functions will really help me out, I think.

Open3D – A Modern Library for 3D Data Processing

Open3D 0.17 Released For Open-Source 3D Data Processing

I'd like a dedicated GPU that will be dedicated for a new #Linux desktop. Which one should I get?

I know I'd like an Nvidia one because of CUDA so I can use the Python scientific/ML stack, generate cute AI images, and so on.

I will also be using it with #Open3D.

I'm now mostly considering a 3060 Ti because of its low power usage. Is that enough? Would a 3070 or 3070 Ti give me much more for this use case?
