MVUI've been super lucky and a work friend lent me an #op1 to "try before you buy" for a week or so.
The thing is honestly really cool! I've been lusting after one since *before* I started learning music, and it really is close to one of my ideal envisioned music workflows where music making is less mechanical and more a destructive iterative process.
[x] Not attached to a computer
[x] Self-contained music making unit
[x] Easy sampling and experimentation
[x] Loop pedal functionality
[x] Portable form factor (i love handhelds)
Would kill someone for an undo button, but its a great little tool.
*However,* getting to try it for a week really highlighted that I need to get better at theory before I think about this kind of serious tool. I have lots of other ways to make music already, and I'm pretty bad at all of those still... this won't help right now.
So despite loving it I'm going to hold off for a year (or two at my rate of progress) and get one when it will be a bit deadlier.
So, back to the piano and myriad of other tools i have for now! There's work to do.
