Computer games aren't actually REAL, no one REALLY gets hurt, none of the aliens ACTUALLY die. At least, that's what Johnny Maxwell believed before the aliens started talking to him.
Only You Can Save Mankind is pure Terry Pratchett. The humour and sci-fi are on point, but most of all, you get the feeling that Pratchett understood mankind, and then let you in on the joke too.
