One of my planned "capstone projects" of my dev life (that will unfortunately be delayed until after my MSIT graduation) is an online memorial service for the Filipino people, similar to what Find A Grave used to be.

Time and again this idea has had been shot down by my friends in real life. What were/are the barriers in Filipino culture and traditions that prevent the propagation of online memorials of our deceased compatriots?
