For dem der har sukket efter en Linux-mobiltelefon (og evt har en OnePlus 6 liggende i skuffen):

Pocketblue, based on Fedora Atomic, is great on the OnePlus 6.

@Pavel Machek has rebased his #libcamera AutoFocus experimental branch above mainline v0.7.0 tag during @okias organized 6th #MobileLinux Hackday yesterday (thanks to #SUSE for hosting), and I have built it on my #oneplus6 #Qualcomm #sdm845 phone running my build of 6.19.0-rc4-next-20260106-sdm845-gdc7b19cffd9e kernel and #mobian. Then I have tested it with Pavel’s mcam and, probably the first time ever, with Gnome/Phosh snapshot application with a complete pipewire-libcamera stack. The simple SW AF prototype has been enabled by the addition of - Af: line into /usr/share/libcamera/ipa/simple/uncalibrated.yam. On the occasion, I had the chance to test the result to document an actual event: when the president of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, spoke at the #Ukraine Support meeting in #Prague Old Town Square today. The autofocus algorithm is quite unstable, periodically seeking a sharp image while the view is blurred in between. Same for the uncalibrated colors. But that could/should be solved in the longer perspective, see FOSDEM talk1 and talk2. But in general, the day when we can run at least older devices under real user control is yet closer. It depends now on @EUCommission whether the future is like 1984 or not for new devices. If it insists on Chat Control, which requires eliminating user control over what software runs on the device and supports rhetoric of sideloading for user control and even own builds of application installing, then the governments and corporations controlled botnet would be abused by mighty ones to control society as a whole. Back to today’s photos and the demonstration of goodwill to help the attacked neighborhood country to survive the imperial war. The original 1080p resolution photo with far focus is there and the short distance shot to the paper there. Both were taken by an IMX519 camera connected to MIPI C-phy.
#Berlin #OnePlus #OnePlus6

If you want to use the device to make phone calls, than #pixel3a. If you just want to try out and play with #postmarketOS, I would recommend #oneplus6 or #oneplus6t
Gentle charging should be possible on #oneplus6. Currently experimenting with code at gitlab.com:tui/tui.git ofone/charger.py.
After the upgrade to #postmarketOS v25.12 on my #OnePlus6 I've noticed a far more and better Bluetooth experience. Before I often had to reboot to turn it on again, now toggling BT power works without any issues 👏

I revived my OnePlus 6 (Android 11/Oxygen 11.1.2.2/A6003) a few months ago with a new battery. But suddenly in the past few days, (1) the camera has stopped working and (2) the flashlight is disabled because it claims the camera is currently in use.

When I launch the camera app, there's no in-app buttons visible. I can see the back/home/app-drawer buttons at the bottom and the dropdown/clock/notification bar at the top. But otherwise, the screen is black and blank.

I'm trying to determine if there are any troubleshooting steps I can do *that I haven't already done* before I resort to a Factory Reset. And if a Factory Reset is even worth it at this point.

I have:
- removed camera permissions from all other apps on the phone
- briefly removed camera permissions from the camera app itself (I put them back afterward)
- verified there are no apparent physical damages to the exterior of the camera hardware (without opening the device up--I'm not certain I'd be able to spot hardware damage to the internal boards)
- cleared the data and cache of the camera app
- force-stopped the camera app
- checked for updates (there are none, last update was November 2021)
- ensured there are no third-party camera apps on my phone
- tried operating the camera in Safe Mode (there was no change to the behavior)
- wiped the cache partition in Recovery Mode

Despite all those changes, both the camera app and the flashlight functionality remain inoperable.
Even with *everything* denied access to camera permissions (even the camera app itself) the flashlight still denied access with the excuse of the camera being in use.

I'm trying to avoid sinking money into a new device, so I'm also concerned about the value of taking it to a service center.
I do have a last resort backup phone with a somewhat working camera (but it's a really bad camera, such that I can't use it for the reasons I switched back to the OnePlus 6).

I have a working work-around for the flashlight (a solid white image and turning the screen brightness all the way up) so that's just an inconvenience.
But not having a working camera is a problem for several reasons (using it as an MFA device being one, using it for personal banking as another).

So, Fedi, am I missing any troubleshooting steps?
Do you think it's worth trying a Factory Reset?
Should I pop the back again (I'd rather not, but if it'll help) and send y'all a pic of that?
Or am I just boned and need to get a new device?

Been forgetting to update, but I have continued to do bike rides in Lisbon and recording the tracks.
