Focusing on the positive today...
1. Our dog Ava was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in August, and we expected she would not live until mid-September. But today, she began her day with leftover pieces of steak(!!) and chicken from our fancy restaurant dinner. (She is intentionally being very spoiled). We are at the stage of kidney disease where we feed her whatever she is willing to eat, regardless of sodium intake or other concerns. Yesterday, she walked all the way to a local playground and home. Her medical care is costly, but we are thankfully able to afford it at this point. She takes her at-home daily I.V. like an angel. She is far from ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Taking it all #OneDayAtATime .
2. After decades of being unable to lose weight for long, and constant gradual weight gain (to the point where I was carrying the equivalent of another adult), my recent treatments of #GLPT1 have resulted in losing OVER 10lbs-- WITHOUT changing diet or exercising! In just a few weeks, I'm now the same weight I last was over 18 months ago! For the first time in many years, I finally feel hope for my weight.
3. Last night, I went to a bookstore. Not a huge achievement ordinarily, but during the past year, I was in too much pain from my weight (arthritis, heel spurs, loss of breath) to be able to enjoy an outing on my feet, even just to a bookstore. I was able to browse the shelves and not sit down every few minutes. The experience meant a lot more in its simplicity & serenity than I can describe. Nothing is more calming to me than the smell of new books, but it was impossible to enjoy it back when I was in constant pain.
If I can keep losing weight, I plan to go to a museum again, as a goal & reward to myself when I lose enough to stand on my feet all day. ๐ค๐
