BlackHat Europe 2025: New President Suzy Pallett on Community, Collaboration, and What Comes Next
I had the chance to speak with Suzy Pallett as she wrapped up her first #BlackHatEurope as the brand's new President. The event saw attendance grow more than 25 percent over last year.
Her perspective on #cybersecurity stands out. She called it "collaboration unlike any other industry I've ever been close to." In a world where knowledge is usually guarded, here it gets shared freely. Because the threats affect everyone, and defending together just makes sense.
The keynotes this year pushed some uncomfortable questions. Is ransomware actually stoppable? Are our compliance checklists creating vulnerabilities instead of preventing them? These are the conversations that matter—not just what tool to buy, but how we think about the problems in the first place.
And when I asked about her priorities for the year ahead, she kept coming back to the same word: community. Listening. Building a platform that belongs to the people who use it.
Events like this remind us why this industry, for all its stress and complexity, still feels different.
The cat-and-mouse game continues, but at least we're running together.

Ich sitze auf den Betonständern eines provisorischen Schildes an der Kreuzung der Joachimsthaler mit der Hardenbergstraße. Diagonal gegenüber ist das Huthmacher Haus. Während ich mich durch die mit rhythmisch angeordneten Rahmen in unterschiedlichen Proportion zusammengefassten Fensterelemente pinsele, wird vor meiner Nase flaniert. Der Menschenstrom ist ampelgeregelt - Abwechselnd passieren Menschen in Autos, die aber wegen samstäglicher Enge nicht so gut durchkommen und daher schon mal hupen, während die Fussgänger warten und dabei ihre weitere Einkaufsplanung besprechen. Dann haben die Menschen ohne Autos grün und passieren die Kreuzung problemlos.

I am sitting on the concrete posts of a temporary sign at the intersection of Joachimsthaler Strasse and Hardenbergstrasse. Diagonally opposite is the Huthmacher House. As I brush my way through the window elements, grouped together in rhythmically arranged frames of varying proportions, people stroll past right in front of me. The flow of people is regulated by traffic lights – cars pass alternately, but due to the Saturday congestion, they don’t get through very well and therefore honk their horns, while pedestrians wait and discuss their further shopping plans. Then the people without cars get the green light and pass through the intersection smoothly.

There was a hidden little gem of a place with a waterfall near the city, however, you had to climb down a slope to reach it and we found it was very slippery in areas. Still, the shoot started off doing some various outfits Megan typically used for her flow/hooping performances before we switched to a nude in nature shoot for some quick poses before switching back. A fantastically fun and beautiful shoot and a pleasure working with her. These are the results of that photo shoot.
