Golovkin Takes the Helm of World Boxing and Promises a New Era

Gennadiy Golovkin, the two time middleweight world champion and 2004 Olympic silver medallist, stepped into the role of World Boxing president at the Rome Congress 2025. He accepted the position with pride and said the sport will now put athletes at the centre of every decision. The Kazakh was the only name on the final ballot....

After all the boxing controversy at the Olympics, this is the first piece I've seen that actually explained the issue rather than just referencing it around the edges (notwithstanding it being an opinion piece).

Why elite women’s sports need to be based on sex, not gender

Two dozen U.S. boys under 17 swim faster than Katie Ledecky in her best event.

I gave the first 2 rounds of the #boxing to Ferreira. I thought she got the better shots in round 1 and certainly in round 2.
I suppose controlling the centre in that first round let her down.

Harrington performed in the 3rd the way that she should have performed in rounds 1 and 2. The Taller, rangier fighter should always work on the outside. Keep them at bay with the jab after taking the centre. It's basics stuff.

I don't think she did enough really.

Imane Khelif outcry fueled by banned boxing body with Russia ties

The allegations that Olympic boxers Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting failed an eligibility test for women's competition have been made by only the International Boxing Association. That's also the only governing body that has ever been completely banished from the Olympics. The entire boxing world has already learned to expect almost anything from the Russian-dominated organization, whose untransparent tests have been seized upon by those criticizing the female boxers amid wider clashes about gender regulations and perceptions in sports. The IOC has decades of bad history with the beleaguered governing body, and it has exasperatedly begged non-boxing people to pay attention to the sole source of the allegations against Khelif and Lin.

I have a solution to this boxing problem. All stakeholders should have equal levels of happiness over it. It doesn't discriminate against any group more or less than any other and it also solves the issues about categorisation in the sport.
Ban the whole thing. It is barbaric.

Lmao, my mum was just telling my dad about the trends on Twitter in the UK, talking about a "male boxer from the Philippines at the Olympics" (referencing Hergie Tao-Wag Bacyadan), and that he was "definitely not a woman"... 😹 There you have it folks: TERFs have no clue what they're talking about...
