“Paddington in Peru”… I mean, why?

“Paddington 2” was a genuine classic: fantastic script and Hugh Grant as the villain.

But no, not when there’s money to be made on the way down, so we get this sad, desperate movie.

Everyone loves Olivia Coleman, they said to themselves. “The Sound of Music” is the ultimate feelgood movie. Olivia Coleman as a singing nun, it can’t go wrong.

But it did. I think Olivia Coleman’s great. I love “The Sound of Music”. But Olivia Coleman as a singing nun is dire.

The script is dire. The whole concept is dire. Julie Walters looks like her heart’s completely gone out of acting and the new Mrs Brown just isn’t Mrs Brown. She’s not even a very good imposter. Even Hugh Bonneville (brilliant actor) can’t save the day.

Such a shame. I would have loved for it to have been a triumph.
