I had a USPS package show as delivered but my doorcam shows it wasn't. I waited a week and since it hasn't shown up I put an electronic ticket into the USPS web site this morning. I am completely blown away that I got a call from my local #Oldsmar post office within an hour telling me they their GPS delivery data indicates it is probably in this area and they will go retrieve and deliver it today. I was not expecting such customer service and efficiency and it has kind of made my day!

4th Estate Folks: "Why aren't representatives from #Oldsmar or law enforcement calling press conferences telling us if/when they misled us on the #OT / #ICS hack of a water treatment facility in 2021!!!!!"
Me:

Remember when a hacker attempted to poison the #Oldsmar water supply by upping the NaOH levels? Seems that it probably wasn't a hack after all.

Did someone really hack into the Oldsmar, Florida, water treatment plant? New details suggest maybe not.

Statements from the FBI and former Oldsmar city manager indicate what happened at the plant may not have been the work of an outside hacker.

Do I win anything?

Not the spelling competition that's for sure... but is there maybe a price for having a good spider sense for this?

Florida city water cyber incident allegedly caused by employee error

Al Braithwaite, the former city manager of Oldsmar, Florida, said the 2021 episode was not caused by outside hackers but was instead a “non-event” sparked by user error.

Obviously there's been a lot of other shit going on in #infosec the last ten days, and I was traveling when this first came out, but - how the hell has a report indicating the #Oldsmar water treatment #ICS #OT incident was basically a fraud cooked up by local law enforcement NOT received any attention or follow-up from major media entities and other investigators in this field?

Botnet traced to computer at hacked Florida water plant - CyberScoop

On Feb. 5, an unidentified hacker broke into the computer system of a water treatment plant in the Florida town of Oldsmar and temporarily changed the plant’s sodium hydroxide setting to a potentially dangerous level, according to local officials. It turns out that hacker wasn’t alone on the network. While law enforcement officials still haven’t publicly identified the perpetrator of the well-publicized hack, industrial security firm Dragos on Tuesday revealed a separate suspected intrusion that same day of one of the Oldsmar Water Treatment Facility’s computers. Dragos has tied the malicious code to a botnet, or horde of infected computers used by spammers, whose code scanned the computers of local water utilities in Florida in recent months. There is no connection between the incidents — whoever tampered with the Oldsmar facility’s chemical settings is not involved in the botnet — but the revelation shows how two very different types of hackers […]
