Musical Interlude: I adore fiddler Bruce Molsky, who does difficult tunes with amazing ease. For a while, he had a band called Molsky's Mountain Drifters, who I was lucky enough to see live multiple times. Here's an uplifting tune for the difficult times we're having.

"There's a Bright Side Somewhere," performed by Molsky's Mountain Drifters.

Musical Interlude: I was introduced to this artist today, via an episode of "Mountain Stage," and I loved this tribute to a town I know, and even mentioning a place I've hiked. I need to learn more about him.

"Harpers Ferry Moon," performed live by John R. Miller.

Musical Interlude: Here's a new-to-me duo I heard for the first time this morning on an episode of "Mountain Stage." They met by chance, became friends, and have performed together ever since, and this song is rather moving.

"The Ones That I Love," performed live by Mama's Broke.

Musical Interlude: Here's another band from the Old Time Festival...Baltimore's resident old time music band, headed by one of the festival's founders. Brad Kolodner not only plays with his band, he hosts a bluegrass radio show and had concerts in his living room. Dude IS music!

"Margaret's Waltz," performed by Charm City Junction.

Musical Interlude: Here's another act from the Old Time Festival. This Louisiana-based father-and-daughter duo do old time music along with traditional Cajun tunes, like this one.

"Blues du Tac-tac (Popcorn Blues)," performed by Dirk and Amelia Powell.

Musical Interlude: At the Old Time Festival, I saw the Golden Shoals (again). I saw them first when they were called the Hoot and Hollers...not sure why they changed their name, but oh well. I'm not a huge fan of their recordings, which are hit and miss for me, but live they're fun. This song came from a visit the singer made to an elderly musician who invited her to stay for a few days, and they lazed about the house in the mountains, puttering and making music. It's a great "vibe" song for a lazy weekend.

Musical Interlude: Another pair of artists I saw at the Old Time festival....these two are local folks, although Mark now lives in CA, but together they are a potent pair.

"Gardenia Waltz/Flop Eared Mule," performed by Mark Schatz & Bryan McDowell.
