#OksanaMasters, the most decorated US Winter #Paralympian, her new memoir covers her formative years in abusive orphanages in Ukraine, where she was born w/webbed fingers, 1 kidney & no weight-bearing bones below the knees.

Although she spent her early yrs seriously malnourished, unpredictably punished & then sexually abused, w/hair cropped close to ease searches for lice, she writes that she often woke each morning thinking:
