THE HBC BRIGADES: CULTURE, CONFLICT, & PERILOUS JOURNEYS
One the men of the north-bound HBC Brigades made it to Fort #Okanogan, they took to horseback once again and rode north through the Okanagan Valley toward #Okanagan Lake and, eventually, #Kamloops. #Journeys #TheHBCBrigades #WestOfTheMountains https://nancymargueriteanderson.com/brigade-twelve/
FROM THE OLD POST OF KAMLOOPS, THE HBC MEN MADE their way south, through the Grand Prairie on their way to #Okanagan Lake and Fort #Okanogan, on the Columbia River. In this leg of their long journey south they rode through a beautiful open grassland with some patches of trees. However, at times the trail was rocky.... #TheHBCBrigades #AmWriting #History https://nancymargueriteanderson.com/brigade-six/

AT FORT OKANOGAN THE MEMBERS OF THE INCOMING BRIGADES left their boats and continued their journey on horseback, up the #Okanogan River toward #Okanagan Lake and #Kamloops. In 1826, Aemilius Simpson, who travelled in with the incoming York Factory Express, described Fort Okanogan. The man in charge of the place at the time Simpson visited it was Frances Ermatinger. I find this story quite telling of the kind of chracter that Frances Ermatinger was. https://nancymargueriteanderson.com/brigade-eleven/
