A college student uses his ability to see & touch ghosts to perform exorcisms to earn money. He meets a high school ghost who doesn't remember her life. An accidental kiss reveals some of her memories & causes her to attach herself to the ML in the hopes of finding out more.
I watched because I like Taecyon & Kim So Hyun was a bright spot in "Radio Romance," - so I'm on a quest. At 17, she was fantastic. There was an unnoticeable 10-year age gap. She's a very mature actress - acting since she was young. Loved her action scenes & the chemistry between the leads was good. The villain is super creepy & ghosts are nicely scary.
As often happens, a super-competent & cool FL falls apart toward the end and becomes too clingy & wimpy, but I fault the writing. Overall, it's a fun watch with a pretty good story.

Secret Royal Inspector & Joy

A Joseon Secret Royal Inspector who would rather open a restaurant meets a fiercely independent woman & they team up to solve a political intrigue murder mystery. It has many similarities with "The Matchmaker." But it's much lighter - not as many characters to know & the mystery is not as complicated.
There's not anything particularly remarkable. The script is somewhat female centric, with strong, intelligent women. There are some funny moments & a few references to old westerns. The performances were good. The side characters are acted well and contribute nicely with their own small story lines. The villains are great.
If you want a light, bingeable, fun, Joseon mystery-romance, this works. But be warned, switching from slapstick comedy to dark murdering & back again happen quickly, so brace yourself.

I've watched 2 episodes of #Heartbeat #kdrama on Prime Video and I hesitate about whether I should continue or not.
Has anyone watched it? Does it get better? I'm not very fond of the male lead character so far, though I know that #OkTaecYeon can do much better. I loved his performance on Bring It On Ghost.

It makes me sad to see a drama with so much potential fall flat. Unfortunately, that's my feeling on "Heartbeat." The scenery & settings were great. The ML's costuming was gorgeous. There were interesting side characters, witty lines, & some swoon-worthy moments. The 1st half was very entertaining, but the 2nd half floundered.
The side characters didn't have stories of their own. No parallel or contrasting 2nd storyline to emphasize the 1st. Aside from the 2 leads, there was minimal character development. Vampire lore was minimal & made up for convenience.
The acting was very good. Taecyeon does most of the heavy lifting here, but the other actors were believable & did well with what they were given.
Describing a Vampire drama as cute seems weird, but that's what I'd say, cute, with a dissatisfying ending.
