Every morning, I feel the same vague anxiety about the coming Trump-driven news cycle that I feel upon coming home from work the day after a house guest has given my dog a beef-based treat: I know the dog has taken a colossal, watery dump somewhere in the house while I've been gone, and I dread finding it.

@raroun hello there! this is Droppie from her new, replacement, account for the broken, now deleted, [email protected]. this replacement account is behaving perfectly, afaict, including excellent responsiveness [so many of the older Friendica accounts i have had, elsewhere, suffered from agonisingly poor latency, with almost every interaction; yours is nicely fast]. the only major difference in origin is that this time i created a standard clean account then manually set up all my settings & contacts... whereas with the prior account, as you recall, i had used that experimental profile-import tool, via the link at the bottom of the registration page. i know that does not prove this was the root cause of all the subsequent problems, but afaict it seems a pretty strong bit of circumstantial evidence. IMO, it might be better to remove that option, until someone is able to properly validate the tool is not defective.

@chessert @paninid In the late 1950's, when my older brother was an infant, my mom became the care-taker of another infant, "CC."
CC's dad couldn't take care of her because he was half crazy with shock and grief. And CC's mom couldn't take care of her because she had blown her head off with a shotgun.

Throughout my childhood, long after CC had gone back to live with her by-then-recovered dad, my mom occasionally had the task of explaining this situation and its aspects of suicide, death by shotgun, and incapacitating grief to me in age-appropriate ways. It wasn't until after I'd become an adult that we got around to speculating on they why of it.
There was no note, so we'll never really know. But CC's mom was the only member of her family to have survived the holocaust. And she would have been a kid or a teen in the camps.

Fuck Hitler. Fuck the Nazis. Fuck them all the way to hell. And double-fuck all the soulless beings who think reinstating Nazism on American soil is some sort of a good idea.
