Day 5: “Unboxing“
The first 2 verses came to me out of nowhere, complete with a melody, and I took it from there. The melody is pretty well grounded in a key and yet the song feels kind of harmonically unmoored.
🎵❤️: I like the guitar counter-melody that runs through most of the song, the clarinet in the middle break, and the way the mostly improvised final rising vocal that sings “unboxed“ is rhythmically, well, literally offbeat.

Day 4: “Mirror Image“
Still not sure what the meter is in this one. 3/4? 6/8? 12/4? Made it hard to settle on a groove for the vocals.
🎵❤️: No drums, no guitars, only synths. Once I was done, I thought it still lacked a little something. That’s when I found that little chromatic piano counter-melody that comes in around 1’40’’ (“so much of the hardship…“). Actually gives me chills (is that indecent?).
