Il Tempo: Iran, Mike Johnson: "Operazione militare conclusa. Obiettivi raggiunti.

Iran, Mike Johnson: “Military operation complete. Objectives achieved. Hormuz remains to be liberated.”

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States, Republican Mike Johnson, stated that he believes the military operation in Iran is “practically concluded.” “I believe the original mission is now over,” he told Congress. “Our objective was to neutralize ballistic missiles and their means of production, and to weaken the navy, and those objectives have been achieved.” Johnson acknowledged that the Iranian capacity to threaten ships in the Strait of Hormuz is “extending the situation somewhat,” particularly because allies of the US have largely ignored the requests for help from Trump, but he added: “As soon as we can restore calm to the situation, I think it will be practically resolved.” U.S. President Donald Trump has stated he is evaluating the possibility of “gradually reducing” military operations against Iran. “We are very close to achieving our objectives,” he wrote Friday on his platform Truth Social, providing the strongest indication to date of a possible intention to soon end the war that began on February 28th.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military has said that the Iranian capacity to threaten ships in the Strait of Hormuz has been reduced after an attack on a subterranean facility housing cruise missiles. U.S. Central Command said that U.S. forces destroyed intelligence support sites and radar repeaters. More than twenty countries have said they are “ready to contribute” to the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. They stated they are ready to provide “adequate efforts” to ensure the safe transit of ships through this navigable waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean and from which 20% of tankers pass. One thousand ships carrying crude oil remained blocked in the Gulf.

Building an app in a weekend with Claude 3

I've mentioned before (here and here) that I know just about enough code to be dangerous, but not enough to make anything very sophisticated. I'm like a kid who's learned a handful of foreign languages at school. I can order a beer in Python, HTML and CSS, but I can't really hold a conversation with the locals. Since the start of the year, I've gone back to square one and started learning Python from the very basics, as well as brushing up on the HTML that I haven't used since I was a […]
