A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of joining nearly 2000 of my open source colleagues at the Open Source Summit North America in Minneapolis.

There was a lot of AI, I got to geek out about architectures, and connect with a bunch of friends and colleagues who I hadn't seen in a few years. Great event.

I wrote about it here: https://princessleia.com/journal/2026/06/open-source-summit-2026/ #ossummit

The talks from #OpenSourceSummit NA 2026 are up on Youtube
Disappointed to see they don't have a PeerTube presence, oh well

Now some rest.

The Great @landley is doing a talk on building the smallest possible Linux system and demonstrating using QEMU to run a build.

And guess what architecture he's using? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

You know.

Great keynote conversation today at the Open Source Summit NA with Dirk Hohndel and Linus Torvalds
My main takeaway: if you don't credit your interpreter / compiler for the resulting artifact, no reason to credit LLMs for the same work
Oh, and we don't need to worry about our jobs, we are programmers

Learning from the inimitable @jerdog about his perspective of DevEx as a flywheel at Open Source Summit #OSSummit

The announcement of Azure Linux VM images from Microsoft yesterday during the keynotes was quite the surprise, but I was pleased to learn that @sjvn had done the legwork to get details and write up a whole article about it: https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-releases-its-first-server-linux-distribution-azure-linux-4-0/

And I was even more pleased to get to catch up with Stephen for a few minutes this morning ๐Ÿ˜„ #OSSummit
