If I had enough money to retire today, my current hyper fixation would result in (in order):

1. A pedantically PSRM-accurate implementation of Display PostScript (on Level 1, not Level 2) with pluggable backends
2. A written formal spec of Objective-C 1.0ish
3. A preprocessor for that spec that pooped out vanilla C11, and associated runtime
4. An implementation of the OPENSTEP Specification

It wouldn’t make the world better but, importantly, it also wouldn’t make the world worse.

I bet few people ever used it, but I actually did for a short time. There has been an X11 / "regular Unix" implementation of #OpenStep besides GNUstep: for Solaris (Sun's OS at the time).

Ok, let’s do this #retrocomputing #nextstep #OpenStep
After 3 years it was time to power-on one my beauties my #sun #color #sparcstation #voyager 😍 Running #next #openstep 4.2. this beauty has 80MB RAM and the AC/DC converter has been fixed and recapped by my esteemed #amiga friend @ClaudeSchwarz one of the masterminds behind #pistorm for AMIGA. 🙏🏻

NeXTStep/OpenStep

Every once in awhile, I’ll go down a virtual rabbit hole whenever I research a topic of interest.
