Lunchtime 3D printing job started: last night I designed in OpenSCAD the framework for a standard piece of platform. It can be one sided or an island, it can have a mounting point for a lamp post, and the internal supports for the platform to surface are automatically generated based on the platform length and width.
Didn’t want to build pure cardboard platforms and didn’t want to pay over the top for laser cut parts. This is a good compromise, the structure will never sag, might just need to replace the top surface occasionally.
All you have to do is cut and glue the side cladding and the top surface. Going to design some ramps tonight. Metcalfe platform kits in the post for me to source parts from.
The thicker part of the side wall represents the area below the level of the track bed.
