Pub101 for Authors is a new OEN program supporting open textbook authors. An open curriculum & weekly synchronous sessions explore topics including Accessibility, Project Mgmt, AI Considerations, & more.

To support faculty authors who want to create an open textbook, the Open Education Network (OEN) offers shared publishing infrastructure, a supportive community, and adaptable resources. In that spirit, we’re excited to share the latest addition to our lineup: Pub101 for Authors.

Spearheaded by Paul Stacey, former executive director of Open Education Global (OEGlobal), this decision-making aid helps senior leaders align institutional goals with open education strategies and tactics. Use the tool as a standalone resource or as a complement to OEN’s Senior Leaders Open Education Seminar, which will be rolled out later this year.

This guide is intended for open textbook creators and the many individuals—librarians, instructional designers, graphic designers and others—who are involved in the creation and selection of open textbooks. It can be used to help to set expectations for authors who are participating in grant programs, and to develop evaluation criteria or rubrics for assessing open textbooks.
We’re excited to announce that Robin DeRosa @actualham has been named executive director of the Open Education Network (OEN), effective February 18. Please join us in welcoming Robin to the OEN community!
