OCEAN:ICE - Ocean-Cryosphere Exchanges in ANtarctica: Impacts on Climate and the Earth System
On my way to #Copenhagen for two workshops on ice-shelf ocean interactions #OceanIce. Taking 11 hours, it’s about the limit of what is pleasant for one day of travel, but I’m sure I’ll get a lot of work done. First leg on ICE 121 Utrecht Centraal-Duisburg Hbf

#ClimateChange #PolarIce #TippingPoints

Hi Ruth,

I can't think of a more adequate person to ask the following.
This post states that "the #Arctic #OceanIce is *not* considered to be a tipping point anymore."

True?

As such, the loss of Arctic ice during the summer is not a tipping point for as long as the Arctic winter remains cool enough to enable the formation of new Arctic sea ice." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tipping_points_in_the_climate_system 2/2

A nice introduction to @OceanIceEU sister project EPOC by Laura De Steur..
I will present #OceanIce in the #IceSheet session tomorrow #ESSI

Youngest has just played a song for me called Ocean Ice - I mentioned that I had a project called that..

It was in fact #OceanEyes 🤦but now I think we have a new theme tune for @OceanIceEU

OCEAN:ICE

Welcome to the OCEAN:ICE! Ocean-Cryosphere Exchanges in ANtarctica: Impacts on Climate and the Earth System (OCEAN:ICE) OCEAN:ICE is a Horizon Europe project, funded by the European Commission and UK Research and Innovation. The project started on the 1st of November 2022 and will run for 4 years until the 31st of October 2026. OCEAN:ICE brings together 17 centres from across the EU and UK, was well as numerous partner nations and organisations. OCEAN:ICE aims to push forward the boundaries in our understanding of how the Antarctic ice sheet and surrounding Southern Ocean influences our global climate, as well as reduce the dangerous levels of uncertainty around how much it will melt in the coming centuries. It will combine both observational and modelling approaches to improve our understanding of fundamental ice-ocean interactions and our ability to model them, as well as rigorous approaches to quantifying our present uncertainty in predictions of future change.

This #ClimateCoffee will be ace. I share an office with Mark and he's a great speaker. The subject, how to convert #ClimateScience data to #ClimateInformation, is extremely important, embodying the challenges for the next phase of #ClimateChange adaptation as we start to provide #ClimateServices as well as #science
