so a few years ago, italian-made Nutella in the glass jars inexplicably disappeared from the Italian Centre grocery stores.
(truth be told, i just wanted them for the damned glass that i fell in love with on a trip to Paris many years ago.)
this week, the glass jars returned and i was overjoyed to bring one home. for the first time ever, i got to compare the italy-made to canada-made nutellas.
it is a night and day difference. i can’t believe canadian nutella is allowed to use that brand name.
the italian nutella is well balanced with a rich nutty flavour, and spreads firmly. the canadian is cloyingly sweet, nut flavour is barely there, spreads like a soppy wet gel; and basically tastes like eating a ferrero rocher for breakfast.
first job when we join the EU? abolish canadian nutella. we fucked this one up.
