Friday’s HalleBOOia! variety show, held within Ohio State’s School of Music, marked the event’s 30th anniversary. The Nutcracker Suite is based on a story called The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman. The original story was quite dark and hardly suitable to become a children's Christmas classic. Alexandre Dumas wrote a lighter adaptation of it, and it's his version the ballet was based on.

Just got back from #Portland Center Stage watching Brown Branch perform Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite. Amazing performance by all, but especially Hailey Niswanger on the saxophone, clarinet, and flute.
We've all been there... You turn up at a party in your everyday clothes and see everyone else is dressed to the nines.
