My life experiences as the adoptive father of a transgender daughter with schizophrenia and my reading have profoundly influenced my thinking about mental illness, homelessness, criminal justice, sin, religion, nature, nurture, consciousness, responsibility, and neurodiversity. I know my understanding of these topics is much better than it would have been without my parenting experiences.
