Just watched "Nothing Underneath" and considering how my favorite era of giallo is the 70's I expected a cheap late echo of the genre's heights I was VERY pleasantly surprised.

Turned out that they wanted to copy Brian De Palma who had already been copying giallo.

My personal giallo-sweet spot is the 70's as the genre haven't been tainted by American slashers yet. And I don't think I am being very original with that preference. This is 100% 80's though with douchbags doing cocaine in the club's bathroom, Russian roulette as a party game, enough hairspray to burn a hole in the sun itself, Magnum P.I. on TV and songs about being hot. But even though Donald Pleasence himself, after Halloween caused the very slasher-tsunami that ruined the genre, it still feels very giallo. A lot of it is thanks to the simpler more obvious things,
