3. You need a #PhoneNumber to use it, which is neither free nor usually available anonymously.
4. You don't have #SelfCustody of #Keys, so like #Telegram and #WhatsApp you can consider claims of #E2EE to be #marketing #lies.
5. Signal uses the #PhoneNumbers to restrict or refuse availability of their services to users.
The only trusly secure #Chat options are #XMPP+#OMEMO & XMPP+#PGP/MIME which are supported by @monocles / #monoclesChat and #Gajim as clients as well as various XMPP-Servers.
You can even use them over @torproject / #Tor as I do!
Remember: #NotYourKeys = No #EndToEndEncryption!

@[email protected] @[email protected] If it wasn't reported by your contact as such and [thus] they didn't [automatically] sent a decrypted copy to #Telegram's mods for them to make the decision you can be assured it never was properly #E2EE'd in the first place.
That's my main issue with all those fancy "Encrypted Chat Apps" that lie into the faces of #TechIlliterates.
Unless the #User has full #SelfCustody of all the #Keys, it's not properly #EndToEndEncryption.
And that is the main problem with all those centralized services: IT IS NOT securely done because the Private Keys are stored on the Providers' Servers!
Not to mention it is absolutely trivial to #MITM such #centralized, #SingleVendor / #SingleProvider solutions...
