I wrote about whether someone found not guilty can sue because it’s a question many people misunderstand. An acquittal doesn’t automatically open the door to a lawsuit. Criminal and civil cases operate under different legal standards, and proving misconduct is a separate and often difficult hurdle. I wanted to clarify that “not guilty” and “wrongfully prosecuted” are not legally interchangeable terms.
