@JimsPhotos I love Northern Gannets, too. I've visited the colony new Percé Rock a couple of times. #NorthernGannets

Every time I posted a photo of this large colony of northern gannets on Ile Bonaventure, off the coast of Percé in Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec, Canada, someone would comment about how stinky it was there. Funny thing is, I have no recollection whatsoever of it being stinky. All I remember is what a scorcher of a day it was, and what an amazing sight!

We went on a two week road trip across Quebec, all the way to Îles de la Madeleine, for our tenth anniversary, almost ten years ago. It was the best road trip ever! Not only did we get to visit the largest colony of northern gannets in North America, but we also got to see a large pod of beluga whales in St. Lawrence River! Would definitely do this trip all over again.

We hopped on a boat one day in early June that took us to Ile Bonaventure (Bonaventure Island) in the Gulf of St. Lawrence in #Quebec, #Canada to visit the largest colony of #NorthernGannets in North America. It was nesting season. We saw a lot of gannets. Like, A LOT. The photo only showed a fraction of the colony.

I remember that it was a hot day and that I struggled with the hike up. I don't remember the bird cliff being stinky but apparently it was. 🤔

I woke up feeling bleh and unmotivated. Getting out of bed was difficult. Getting dressed even more so. But I've managed to drag myself to water some plants before getting myself dressed, go grocery shopping, have breakfast, and right now I'm transferring 8,000 photos from my memory card to a hard drive. I've been procrastinating from doing the latter since May. 🙄 Mood is still crap but at least I'm getting some sh*t done.

Here's a photo of the #NorthernGannets as a reward for reading this.

This is one of my favourite photos I took on Bonaventure Island, which is part of Parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé in #Quebec. Its colony of Northern #Gannets (116,000 strong) is the most accessible in the world. Visiting the colony was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had in my life.

These mated pair are engaging in the act of fencing, which is what they do when a male returns to the nest.
