A View from Below
This female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) looks as though she’s fluffed up against the chill, her feathers puffed into a little winter coat. I had a temporary change in my bird‑seed mix, and many of the smaller visitors—like the sparrows—seem to have taken their business elsewhere. But the cardinals? They’re still showing up, unfazed and faithful as ever.

This northern cardinal is aware of its surroundings as it spins around with a seed in its beak.
I am trying to get the hang of encoding with svtav1 library. Unfortunately I can’t use ffmpeg 4 on my desktop so I transfer the files to my laptop, with ffmpeg 6, and then can use a command like this:
ffmpeg -i [input] -c:v libsvtav1 -c:a copy -preset 6 -svtav1-params "keyint=10s:tune=0:enable-overlays=1:scd=1:scm=0" [output]

I have not had a chance to go through and edit videos from the bird feeder recently. I have a whole bunch from April.
This one was fairly amusing.
Northern Cardinal Pair
This captivating photo features a pair of northern cardinals perched on a bare tree branch. The male cardinal stands out with its vibrant red plumage, complete with a black mask around its eyes and beak. In contrast, the female cardinal exhibits a more subdued appearance, primarily in shades of brown with hints of reddish hues on her wings and tail. Both birds face the same direction against a backdrop of green foliage, illuminated by soft natural light.
