North England FC has Robbie Fowler as player-manager. He says, "There is obviously an element of fun to the game but I guarantee this will be competitive and serious because it will be great to beat them.”

Fowler’s side, according to #NorthvsSouth organisers, will be “bringing together local heroes and international stars who share Northern roots or who have become adopted icons at Northern clubs. South England FC manager Harry Redknapp - who else? - says: “North versus South has seen some great club side matches in the past. Northern teams like Man United, Liverpool and, more recently, Manchester City may have dominated English football but it’s about time now that the South got back to winning a trophy again.”

Organisers say each squad “will feature 16 great players from the top-flight’s recent past”. They add that Redknapp's side will be a "formidable line-up of homegrown talent and global stars who've made their mark on southern soil. Combining technical brilliance with unwavering determination, they're set to demonstrate why the South has always been a powerhouse of English football".
