"a design that captures the local building vernacular that is unique to such an important historic town as King’s Lynn." says NCC cabinet member.

I'm not sure where else in the town they think has a tricolour cream/grey/brown diamond patchwork?

@RantyHighwayman Entrance kerbs! I think that's what #NorfolkCountyCouncil "Road Safety" team said is too dangerous for side roads off of a 40mph housing access road, after #ActiveTravelEngland suggested them in planning application FUL/2024/0001
This is the same Road Safety Team that objected to a #cycleway continuing across a junction but approved this as a better solution in #kingsLynn #NorfolkUK - I feel the main reason this hasn't killed anyone yet is that most people ignore it and rejoin the carriageway before the end of the road, or turn left and U turn (the "primary" cycle route continues on-road away from the camera). Or give up cycling this route after one attempt and drive because that's what #NorfolkCountyCouncil expect

Campaign chair Peter Silburn was on BBC Radio Norfolk this morning, along with local councillor Maxine Webb, to discuss the removal of cycling safety measures from the Dereham Road/Larkman Lane junction scheme.

@NorwichCycling #cycling improvements secretly cut by #NorfolkCountyCouncil who say the project can't afford it? Well, that's only been happening for decades. Here's a description of one from 2008. For a long time, #Norwich was protected from this by city grants and delegated highways powers. The rest of #NorfolkUK has seen this so many times: cycling is cut first despite offering the best cost-benefit returns. Plant is a car freak.

Harding's Way: What Should Have Happened (CIF2) | KLWNBUG - The Norfolk & Fens Cycling Campaign

The 2008/9 project that widened Harding's Way and allowed buses onto it included five cycling measures, which I (MJ) feel was an attempt to persuade cyclists to support the project. Only one has been completed so far and the other four remain needed. So can you understand why some of us are angry about the

#NorfolkCountyCouncil makes another 20mph #liveableNeighbourhood in the #Gorleston home area of #transportForNorfolk czar #cllrGrahamPlant at the same time it drops basic cycling provision from a junction rebuild in #Heacham. One rule for the czar's home, another for where he only drives?

@RinglandWoods there's potential for ironic justice in the tip closures in that, if #NorfolkCountyCouncil get their way and become sole council for #norfolkuk, then clearing up and prosecuting flytipping becomes a cost for them instead of the borough-level councils. #kingslynn tip already booking-required, shutting Wednesdays and short hours otherwise.
NCN1 Sandringham Railway Path and Sand Line Path suggested diversions | KLWNBUG - The Norfolk & Fens Cycling Campaign

Both NCN1 and the Sand Line Path are expected to be closed this week for repairs (signs have gone up). Leaving aside the poor timing and coordination, here are

#WestNorfolk #PlanningApplication #2401207F #KingsLynn More flats with no #cycleParking for inhabitants. Not good enough. #NorfolkCountyCouncil has objected and I'll ask #KLWNBUG to support them.
#WestNorfolk #PlanningApplication #2302182F converting stables to holiday accommodation in #Hilgay. Proposes 6 #cycleParking spaces in secure sheds. Great. Now, if only Hilgay was a bit more directly connected to its nearest towns... I might ask #KLWNBUG if they want to use this to tweak a #NorfolkCountyCouncil nose about the missing #A10 #cycleway!
