Four critically endangered #Indochineseboxturtle moves in at #NordensArk!
This species are a desirable collector's item and very few individuals remain in the wild. These four are genetically important for the work of saving the species from extinction.
Our strive to save endangered species never ends. A big warm thank you to all of you who supported us in 2022. These are some of the conservation wins we achieved.
Great news!
The other day, two of the pairs of the critically endangered lemur leaf frogs laid eggs.
Now we are eagerly awaiting hatching. In ten days’ time we’ll know how many small frogs there will be.
Another wonderfully snowy day here at Nordens Ark, to the delight of the tadjik markhors in the park.
In the wild, markhor lives in the western areas of the Himalayas at an altitude of 600 – 3600 meters.
🐐The stunning, corkscrew-shaped horns of the males are popular among trophy-hunters and can fetch up to $1,000 a kilo on the black market.
