With no warning, and no order to disperse, British troops opened fire on #nonviolent Indian protesters, killing 530+ in the #JallianwalaBaghMassacre on #ThisDayInHistory in 1919. No punishment was given for this excessive force, as violence is a necessary feature of #colonialism.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is in theory so damn plausible, so appealing, but in practice so damn hard, maybe even impossible, considering that I haven't met people who do it "properly" like Marshall B. Rosenberg described it in the books or his talks.

For example as a practitioner of NVC you are supposed to only hear requests, expression of needs, "thank you", "please" from other people. Who is supposed to keep that mindset up with people who are revolting your gears so much?

Or requesting from other people what you need, which is supposed to be not demands. Some things are so painful to be denied them, that you can't accept it, that this thing which would make your life a little bit more wonderful is something you can't have.

Or what is even a need in it? It's supposed to be universal. It's different from a strategy (or preference). I for example long to be able to enter a specific club house, but I can't because I was banned for life from it. So what is the hell my "need"? Community not, because the people have killed that with their treatment of me, but still I long to enter it, to be able to be in the fringes of that particular club, to be able to connect with people who weren't involved in the ostracism of myself and maybe maybe having the ability to make peace with people. But what are my needs, which I'm supposed according to NVC to be able to fulfill in a different way?

Ben, what can everyday Americans do? I feel like the military escalation of the United States might be directly related to the growing number of #nonviolent #protests across our country. Trump is desperate for an opportunity to declare martial law, under which he might be able to legally suspend #voting indefinitely.

The #NoKings 3 march was March 28th, and here we are on April 7th, with Emperor Cheeto threatening genocide. I am so #heartbroken for the people of Iran, and also for the soldiers and sailors of the #UnitedStates #military.
