Good morning from Iringa, Tanzania 🌧️ – a town with fascinating German history and ancient rock paintings that date back to prehistoric times.

Today, if the weather allows, I plan to explore the historical sites, get a ticket, and continue my journey tomorrow. I love discovering how history leaves its mark in unexpected places, and Iringa is full of stories waiting to be uncovered.

A new blog post is up ✍️
I’ve started a long overland journey with multiple overnight stops, long bus rides, and the slow way forward — by bus, tuk-tuk, and on foot. I began in Moshi, with the destination still open and unfolding along the road.

Read the story on the blog and follow along as it develops.

A Swim Beneath Kilimanjaro

This was my last breakfast here. Now packing and checkout.....

Last breakfast and coffee at this place.
A slow morning, a warm cup, and one final glimpse of Kilimanjaro before it’s time to move on.

Some places don’t ask you to stay — they just leave a mark.

Swimming pool with a Kilimanjaro view 🗻 — unreal scenery.

The place itself: poorly maintained. No lockers, dirty showers, zero privacy, very public toilets. Entrance: 7,000 TZS.

Old pool, great weather. The view saves it.

Swimming pool day with a view of Mount Kilimanjaro 🗻
The view? Absolutely unreal.

The place itself… not so much. Poorly maintained, no lockers, messy changing rooms, dirty showers with zero privacy and nowhere to put your stuff. Same for the toilets — very open, very social, and definitely not clean. Hard pass.

I had to use the shower anyway. Entrance fee: 7,000 TZS.

The pool looks old and a bit like it’s falling apart, but the weather was great and that Kilimanjaro view fixed a lot. Not everything — but enough.

A slow, quiet day in Moshi — bad coffee, laundry, long walks, fading Christmas Tree blooms, a smoothie at the Wishing Tree, and rice & beans to end the day. Ordinary moments, written down. 🌿
