Out of the Past is, to me, the quintessential #NoirFilm. Outside debates and discussions about whether it's the best (hard to say), the most ambitious (perhaps not), the most bleak (nope), etc., it's the one that I would show to someone who doesn't know what #FilmNoir is at all, especially in its "classical" form.
