Just found about abound #noctalia shell, oh wow, I was thinking about starting such project from the time I started using pure i3. The Noctalia is pretty great especially on NixOS, no dependencies or additional settings. Only things you have will work, great great software.
Noctalia - A beautiful, minimal desktop shell for Wayland

A beautiful, minimal desktop shell for Wayland that actually gets out of your way. Built on Quickshell with a warm lavender aesthetic.

KaOS (which I've never tried before) switched from KDE desktop to a Niri/Noctalia desktop. I tried it in the live session.

It makes a very cute desktop! 🤩

Niri and Noctalia are also available in AUR.

A Lean KDE Distribution

#Noctalia and Dank Material Shell are giving #Gnome and #KDE a run for their money. If you want a slick consistent desktop experience and you want to use your favourite standalone #wayland compositor both of these two are great.

@jloc0 my solution is just ditch #noctalia. I use #quickshell for other stuff so I need a stable version that covers all bases. Thanks for backing me up in that issue, but I don't think they care.
@jloc0 noctalia on labwc (at least) has pooped it's pants since the last update. I've filed an issue (https://github.com/noctalia-dev/noctalia-shell/issues/2232) as I do believe it's their problem. Dank still runs fine with qs-noctalia, but the inverse is not so. #noctalia
A bit ago I was on here debating on what distro and de to switch to, after happily being on fedora kde for years. I think I said I would do fedora atomic kde, but, nope. I ended up on cachyos with the niri wm. I'm really liking the scrolling wm more than I expected to. This is a very solid distro.

I pushed updates to #hyprland, #mangowc, #quickshell, #noctalia and some more today. Also, aarch64 has all that plus #firefox 148.0.2 if this message makes it out to the world. https://slackware.lngn.net/ #slackaroni
slackware packages/repos for aarch64 (and one or two for x86_64)

I’ve replaced some parts of my cherry-picked environment with #Noctalia shell, and I must say: Damn, it’s cool.

I need to test it for longer period, tho. I’m very prone to diving into a never-ending ricing rabbit hole instead of using a computer for productive work, so “cooler looking” might end being demerit in my case.
