#PopeLeoXIV says the world is “being ravaged by a handful of #tyrants,” in the latest escalation of his feud with Donald #Trump.

The pontiff, on a trip to Cameroon, urged a “decisive change of course” and denounced leaders who use #religion as a basis to justify war.

“The masters of #war pretend not to know that it takes only a moment to destroy, yet often a lifetime is not enough to rebuild,” Leo said.

“They turn a blind eye to the fact that billions of dollars are spent on killing and devastation, yet the resources needed for healing, education, and restoration are nowhere to be found,” he went on, further condemning what he described as “an endless cycle of destabilization and death.”

Pope Leo speaks out against war on Iran
Amid the US-Israeli war on #Iran and #Israel's recent bombings in Lebanon, #PopeLeo XIV took to the social media platform X and warned that violence cannot create space for freedom.

On X, Pope Leo said, "God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs."

"Military action will not create space for freedom or times of peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples."

Since US President Donald #Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday, Israel responded by launching its deadliest series of strikes on #Lebanon since early March.

More than 357 people were killed in the massacre and at least 1,000 wounded, according to the #Lebanese health ministry.
