"In Monterey, Onette McElroy, 83, says she is 'here for the long haul’ and brought a portable stool for her spot at the corner of Del Monte and El Estero. She returned for her second No Kings protest.

β€œβ€˜[POTUS 47] is a terrible representation of the U.S.,' says McElroy, who adds that she never protested before [his] presidency. 'I'm very frightened for our future.'”

Report by Kyarra Harris for #MontereyHerald

"Organizers estimated more than 10,000 took part in Saturday afternoon’s #NoKings Day demonstration at Window On the Bay Park in #Monterey.
...

"People lined up on Del Monte Avenue from near Municipal Wharf 2 to about a mile past Camino Aguajito.
…
"' I’m retired #military and so is my husband,’ said Sherry Withrow, from Pacific Grove. 'This president has no guardrails and not a day goes by without his insults. How can people succumb to someone like him, who threatens us?’
…
β€œ'My sign says "Here comes the sun” and it’s a call to keep showing up, the future is together,' said Mary Catherine Malley, from Salinas who came dressed in a sun costume. 'Protest is part of it, but we need to continue work outside of it too, it’s #NotASpectatorSport.’”

Tony, a Monterey Parks employee, was one of many people who used the bike-and-ride option of Monterey-Salinas Transit to get to the MST bus stop on Del Monte at Camino Aguajito in Monterey today. This was a very convenient bus stop for people going to Window on the Bay Park for the #NoKings gathering.

This Canadian stopped to appreciate our sign (which he is holding). And he graciously agreed to our shooting a photo of him so our grandkids, in Canada, could see his cool hat!
