(Edited to add Ai to a crackpot theory.)

Don't quote me on this, Alice, but I'm almost certain that snippet is from a bad Ai translation of German poet, playwright, and historian Friedrich Schiller's "Ode to Joy," employed by the immortal Ludwig von Beethoven in his Ninth Symphony.

Okay, two excellent performances of the Beethoven 9th and Brahms Shicksalslied this weekend, last night and this afternoon.

I think I slightly preferred last night's, but both were very, very good.

I don't feel like I need to sing the Beethoven for another decade or so (it's been that long since I last did it) but it was very fulfilling.

I have a lot to be thankful, but most importantly, I thank my friends and family for enriching my life. I also want to thank #weta radio for playing such magnificent, classical music, particularly today. I began my day listening to Bach and Grieg, and I concluded it by listening to #Beethoven’s #NinthSymphony and #Vivaldi’s #FourSeasons. Hallelujah!

The #NinthSymphony of #Beethoven, and #OdeToJoy in particular, is my favorite piece of Western #ClassicalMusic. ❤️

Here’s a #video of a #FlashMob version of this piece:

that I still find quite uplifting.
