Final Fantasy, uno de los juegos de rol más exitosos para la NES, contribuyó a popularizar el género y dio origen a una de las franquicias de RPG más conocidas de la historia.

Hironobu Sakaguchi, su creador, pensó que sería su último juego, de ahí el término "final" en Final Fantasy.
